Pretty nice spot to have a picnic dinner 🍽
Of the seven Canary Islands, it was La Gomera that had some of my favorite scenery. Lush Laurisilva forest cover the islands interior. A tree that once covered all of Europe, outside Macronesia it is now only found on the Canaries, and in small parts on Madeira Island and the Azores. The trees mingling with tall ferns and covered with moss make for a fairytale backdrop I have never seen anywhere else. Outside the forest, there are huge rock formations, remnants of the volcano that created the island. One morning we rose early and caught the sun rising over the island from a point high above Roque de Agando. It was unforgettable. La Gomera also has beaches, but it's the hiking and the forested areas that I loved so much. If you've visited the canaries but not this island it's time to make a trip. PREPPED TO CLIMB
Summit season is soon approaching and couldn't be more excited for my wife to join in on the joy and feeling of accomplishment of knocking off several 13er's and at least one 14er in the next couple of months! We've got all the necessities to make this possible but anyone who's climbed a big one knows it's all mental...well, and loaded with carbs! Less than a month until we'll be in the Rockies then the San Juans.
Life hits a dead end sometimes ya feel? 😭
I didn’t even have a balcony for the last four years in New York, so you better believe I’ll be posted up in this hammock all summer long.
The name “ha long” means descending dragon. This came from the family of dragons that god sent as protectors. The dragons began spitting out jewels and jade, which became the thousands of islands in the bay. The islands, linking together, formed a great wall against invaders. After winning the battle, the dragons decided to live in the bay. The place where the mother dragon descended was named Ha Long.
