When I make a gallery wall I go for balance rather than symmetry. One thing I’ve learned about my preferences while settling into my home is that it’s balance - neither chaos nor total order - that melts my butter. I’ve opted to use consistent spacing as the unifying rule rather than hang along a single center line or make anything match from side to side. This wall is *very* close to striking just the right balance for me. As it is, the left-most collage can hang slightly higher (or perhaps I need to add something else above it?) and the right-most is a little high. But I’ll let this sit for a couple days and then maybe go in and tweak it. And since I’m using 3M Command strips I can change and rearrange to my heart’s content without putting one hole in the wall! I’d love to give you a straight-on shot of this hallway but a strange architectural feature prevents that. I hope you get a sense of the scope, size and shape. .
How do you arrange gallery walls? What principles do you use? What do you avoid? I’d love to learn more tips! .
