After driving for four days when we reached Leh I took a sigh of relief. My first expression was thank God the roads are good. I was constantly worried along Leh Manali highway because it was his first hilly area driving and I was not sure how bad the terrain will get. Being a Himachali indeed I have seen roads in much worse conditions. And I am also aware that its aways you never know situation in mountains. You don’t know when that stone which was lying there for centuries will decide to take a free fall or that river which was flowing smoothly for years will suddenly bring havoc to an area. I would suggest to be mentally aware of what you are getting into.
So when we reached Leh and finally there was signal on our phones I was relieved that now if the vehicle stops or tire punctures or anything of that sort happens we can call up people for help. Our first stop at Leh was Shanti Stupa and after that we visited Leh Palace. The architecture of Leh Palace is unique and nothing like the palaces I have seen before in Rajasthan, Mysore, Hyderabad, Pune, Delhi, Punjab and in lot of other places. Panelling and false ceiling of the palace reminded me of my nani’s home. The design of the pillar and it being made out of wood is same to same. I indeed felt home though my nani’s place is not that big but yes the feel is same.
Leh Palace, Leh, India
