I handed in my last essay about a week ago, and have been enjoying the rediscovery of free time since then! The past 3 years have been crazy, between all of uni’s classes, coursework, presentations, exams, and essays (not to mention the adventure/rollercoaster of God’s provision through it all!), church involvement which usually gets busier around exam and deadline times also, working the whole time, being part of lacrosse for 2 of those years, traveling home for whirlwind visits, babysitting, songwriting, and probably a lot of stuff I forgot about.
If I had to sum up each year in two words it’d be:
1st year: oh heck.
2nd year: okay... okay...
3rd year: now what?
1. I feel like first year was THE most crazy. I was in a new city, mostly new people, I found myself in university economics classes HA! (Context: instead of taking maths in my senior year of high school I took sculpture 🤷🏼♀️) and was both super excited about essays and learning as well as learning a new way of writing and all that! ALSO new church, finding out who my people were etc... and a very big thing: remembering my 👏🏻 grades 👏🏻 don’t 👏🏻 define 👏🏻 me 👏🏻 overall, crazy crazy!
2. Second year I had the swing of things a bit better but was really learning about my capacities and how busy was too busy etc... this was also the year of the biggest financial stress and breakthrough, so it was like the settling of the snow globe
3. This year stuff has settled, but do you guys get when I mean when I say sometimes stuff settling is a bit... unsettling? Learning to trust God even more when things don’t settle how you expect is a le-sson. Being authentic and honest AND simultaneously honoring and respectful is a le-sson! Being patient and humble and celebrating with other people while you press in for your own stuff in prayer is a heeeckin le-sson!
More deep stuff in posts to come, but to finish this one off, I also really upped my insta game and latte art game over the last 3 years •
